I am looking to change my rear gears from 3.08 ratio to 3.42. Am I correct in understanding that I would have to change the whole rear or carrier. I dont know much about them. But, I have been looking for people listing that for a while and have not found it. So, where will I find a good deal on this rear assembly that I need and what specifically will I need?

 

The 7.5 GM 10 bolt is the only rear end that has thick gears availbale for the 2 series differential. You can actually buy a thick 3.42 that will fit the differential that you have now. I recommend contacting Tom's Differentials or Randy's Ring & Pinion for the gears and the installation kit. They have the best parts. Don't shop Summit or Jeg's for rear end parts.

You need to check out the FAQ 10 bolt sticky and educate yourself on this rear end before you get into it very far.
