Hey Orr, I got my Zexel!
It came with 3.23 gears. I have an earlier F body 10 bolt case. I plan on getting the direct fit axles (28 spline) from summit for a 91-92 10 bolt, new bearing kit and the brake conversion kit from Bynfly soon. is there anything else I need? Thanks!
Re: Hey Orr, I got my Zexel!
Be sure that you get the installation kit with the Super Shim set and Timken bearings. The Ratech shims are a real pain in the rear. Randy's Ring & Pinion, Tom's Differentials and DTS have the kits with the good shims.

Good news. Once you swap axles and new bearings that should be it since you are using stock housing.

Copy that, they don't work with disk brakes anyways. Thanks. Summit kits don't specify Timken bearings, I'll check out your recommendations. Thanks again.

Any recommendations on fluid for the Zexel? I won't need a "slip modifier" or additive, correct?

I think my last summit kit came with timken bearings. I used regular 80-90 weight gear oil. No additive
Re: Hey Orr, I got my Zexel!
Yeah it'd wise to avoid Summit for rearend parts. They use a LOT of Ratech products, which are pretty subpar. Check the retailers Big Gear Head recommended. I swear by Timken when it comes to bearings, shims, etc. They always work great. Joined: Sep 2003

Does richmond use crappy shims? I bought 3.42's and richmonds install kit from summit and it had timken bearings but no idea what shims were in it. My tranny and drivetrain shop had no issues with it tho

Thanks for all the advice Gentlemen! All parts are ordered and inbound! I went with Summit for the axles, Randy's R&P for the kit and timken bearings and Ed at FlyNbye for brake brackets! I will have Posi for my first event!
