9-bolt gear oil?
I'm finishing up a 9-bolt rebuild and have a question about the oil. I've read several threads with different ideas about the weight and if additive is needed or not. I've never done this before and I got CRC Sta-Lube 80W90 GL-5 Plus for Hypoid Limited-Slip. It was the only one of that weight they had. Is this OK?

Don't think you need the posi additive for a 9 bolt. I believe it actually reduces friction on clutch type posi units to extend life.

Yes the additive lets the clutches slip a bit going around turns. In 9 bolts most times you do not need the additive. I needed to add some to mine after i rebuilt it since it was so tight with the new cones that it would chirp tires going around tight corners. Now its good with the additive and still roasts both rear tires no problem.
