Torque arm install question

Hello,

Today I reinstalled the driveshaft and tried to install the torque arm. I can't get it to line up with the rear-end. It appears to be on the wrong angle. Does anyone have any tips for installing the arm. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Re: Torque arm install question

Install the end that goes on the axle first, then the end that goes on the transmission bell housing. It's tight, but its doable. While I do have a manual, not an automatic, I'm pretty sure the mounts are the same

Re: Torque arm install question

Do the transmission side first. have front end on the ground and rear end in the air on jack stands. Put a jack under the diff and adjust height until the torque arm goes on. Have had mine out countless time and re-installed this way each time.

I should have mentioned that you need the front end in the air for this to work.

Re: Torque arm install question

I just bolted my torque arm and mount to my driveshaft tunnel. Bolted through right beside the driver seat.
Torque arm had two holes, made them a bit bigger. 3/8 inch. And through the mount.
Bolt goes through all of it.
Let me know if it's a really bad idea. Haha. Me being cheap and lazy

1986 firebird 2.8 to 350 tpi swap.

Trust me I wish I could do it right the first time and in most cases I think I am. This is my first time doing this... I'm doing this engine swap on a small island off vancouver coast. Auto wrecker or even a napa is a 3 hr ferry ride. So trust me when I say I wish I could do it right the first time...
