Rebuilt T5 5th Gear grind

I recently installed a rebuilt T5. It had a 5th gear grind for about the first 7 shifts.

Double cluching did not help and neither did did fast or slow. I was getting ready to pull the tail and I decided to try one more time. I was surprised by no grind. I now have a few days of driving it with a bunch of shifts into 5th and every time it is perfect.

Any ideas?

Any ideas? The grinding is gone now and I am almost at 500 miles where I will drain and fill it again.

Well - not really any ideas, but I guess its good that it stopped. Most of the time from what I've seen, the clutch not quite fully disengaging can cause grinding issues.

Maybe your clutch slave got a little air bound and the air finally worked it's way out?? Hard to say...

I'd look at the fluid you drain closely for any large amount of metal...you'll always have a tiny bit, but if there's a lot, you might have an issue...

I did put a brand new clutch, pilot and throwout bearing at the same time.

When I drain it in about 75 miles I am going to drain it through a filter to check for metal.
