Slotted Shifter Plate

I am converting my auto to a T5 in the next couple of weeks. I am looking at different shifters and had the Idea to make a slotted shifter plate. Has anyone ever made one? What about pictures?

Thanks for the link but there isn't information or pictures in there. I don't think a remote shifter is neccesarry, is it?

Re: Slotted Shifter Plate

Think the shifter in a Ferrari or Lamborghini with slotted shifter is mounted solidly to the transmission?

Do you understand why it's not?

Third gen shifters are, which is why they need a very flexible rubber lower boot, allowing for flex, as the transmission is rubber mounted to the crossmember, some of which are rubber mounted to the floor.

Re: Slotted Shifter Plate

I never really thought about that. To think about it, it makes sense.

My buddies 454 chevelle shifter is always moving, weather it's in neutral or in gear. I guess this is due to the rubber mounts? His Porsche has a slotted shifter and I always loved the look of it.

I thought a slotted shifter plate could simply be used in place of a shifter bag. I still have my auto so I'm not too familiar with the setup. Also I'm not sure how much the shifter moves when driving due to the rubber mounts, if any. If I were to do this it would be for aesthetics and to be unique.
