hello everyone, im having one of the weirdest issues yet with my 92 camaro, today while i was driving i downshifted manually from overdrive to 1st, when i wen to put it back to overdrive it stayed in first and the shifter felt like i wasnt changing gears, when i got home and shut it off i couldnt put it in park, but yet i can still start the car when the indicator is on park or neutral, so now im stuck in first and im at a loss and am looking for advice... anyone have any ideas on what it could be???

Because the P/N switch that locks out the starter is attached to the shifter ( that is still moving correctly ) ; not the transOriginally Posted by Sinfulrelations

Most likely you broke the cable , it's attachment or it's parts inside the trans that select the gearsOriginally Posted by Sinfulrelations

broken at shifter end .
If the cable moves and the shaft into the trans is moving ,then your problem is inside the trans.

i have done it, you broke the cable. not expensive and relatively easy to replace.
pop the cover that goes around the shifter (which probably has a name lol) and one end of the cable is there, push clip style
pass? side of trans, is the other end, also push clip style (at least it was on my 92 rs)

Got it fixed, but why is there two cables in there, lucky me the clip came off and all I had to do was push it back on
