TC and front pump issue

Correct me if im wrong but if my tc is bad it wont spin the pump? i lost all gears all of asudden while driving no funny noises just lost everything. has no pressure at all. when i pulled the dipstick it looks like its way over full like 4-5 qts over. its a 1990 rs 5.0

It's pretty tough for a TC to "go bad" in such a way as to stop working the pump. Of all the ways they can "go bad", failing to work the pump is pretty low on the list.

OTOH it's much more possible and likely for a pump to fail.

If the convertor is connected to the engine then the part that drives the pump is turning
The pump itself may be fine but is possible the pump gears that are driven by the convertor are broken or the drive tang on the gears that the convertor fits into sheared off
