Re: Polly Torque Arm Bushing, worth it?

I don't seem to notice any difference with mine. I went poly because it was in stock and my old bushing was badly cracked.

Make sure you get the one with the correct facing W pattern.

I have seen a couple T5s where the top bolt was stripped. Time for a helicoil.

IM hoping the threads are part of the mount that can come off, as to not have to work in that cramped tunnel or drop cross member/trans.

Yea that looks like mine. Although I cannot remember which way my W faces. In or out.

Re: Polly Torque Arm Bushing, worth it?

looks like im waiting anyways, don't like the slack in tie rod that wasn't there weeks ago. Darn road to GF house is murder, pressure cracks on the highway is like hitting a curb head on at speed. Thats when the Torque arm came lose the 2nd time, hitting one of them things while shifting.

Re: Polly Torque Arm Bushing, worth it?

Poly is just going to transfer even more of that jarring to the car and to you. And to the tail of the trans which is not good. Also, given the amount of movement relative to the TA length I can't see it would help much if any. Seems like it would also bind the rear more than rubber.

I realize you don't have a lift at your disposal. But jacking the car up and checking that top bolt is what you need to do instead of replacing crap that's not broken and won't help it stay unbroken.

The top bolt threads into the tailhousing casting. The bottom is a through-bolt with nut.

Re: Polly Torque Arm Bushing, worth it?

Oh I know its the top bolt, had to put it back in twice in that couple of weeks. while im at fixing it right I thought id asked if it was worth the extra effort.

Re: Polly Torque Arm Bushing, worth it?

What extra effort is replacing the bushing when the bracket is wide open?

The possible reduction in deflection by changing a good rubber bushing to a good poly bushing is worth less than half a degree in pinion angle. Not worth it.

I like to get my ducks in a row before I tackle something as this is the last time im fixing it im going above and beyond a single bolt.
