Simple TV cable questions

Finishing up a 700r4 replacement. Heres where I'm at. TCI cable bracket with the geometry corrector and using a TBI TV cable with a 670 street avenger.. at idle position i have about a 1/2 inch of slack or so..

is shortening the TV cable an option? Im not buying the TVmadeEZ so dont suggest it please. without the corrector i can get one click of adjustment at wot but it doesnt kick down as needed. I know i need to run a corrector so my only option seems to be to shorten the cable. anything to lose??

THANKS!

Re: Simple TV cable questions

I read that thread before. But basically I just need to know if shortening the cable if I can still get the proper range of motion and pressure is okay. Otherwise I'll just order a tci universal. Has anyone else shortened a OEM cable before?

Re: Simple TV cable questions

A shorter inner cable relative to the outer sheath is required. Or, a new bracket that moves the adjuster mount point rearward. Or, wrap/crimp some kind of ferrules to the end of the inner cable to make it stick thru the carb throttle mount point more.

All functionally equivalent, to remove the slack at idle and get it into the adjustment range.

I ended up using the spring sonnax sells and adjusting it. Went to drive is and can not get it to upshift into 3rd or 4th gear. It just revs up and up. If down shifted manually it acts like its neutral. Builder thinks its the valve body or governor
