To keep auto or go manual

My auto is starting to go out on me. I want to rebuild it, but I really want a manual car and I want to keep my existing camaro. Is it a hard swap? Whats everyones opinion. The car is on the street 99% of the time and all my buddies have manuals and I really want one.

What trans do you intend to use (read the T56 swap sticky above ) and how deep are your pockets ?

Re: To keep auto or go manual

I just went from a automatic to a manual in 3 days. Drove the car into the garage Tuesday afternoon and drove the car out last night with the 5 speed. Really the most difficult part was trying to get the automatic out, once that was out the 5 speed went in really quickly. You have to cut 2 holes, one for the clutch & one for the shifter. The clutch one is super easy because there are punch outs in the dynamat and you can just trace the holes onto the firewall. The shifter was a little tricky but I got it to work.

Definately worth the time tho.
