700r tranny

hi i have 92 z/28 which needs a 700r rebuild . my friend has a 700r tranny all built ready to go from a 1986 fire bird . my question is will i have any problems swapping that out . any thing i need to know before we do this or is it easy to have my tranny rebuilt thank you roger

I believe in 86 the 700r4 was still the older style, and wasn't built as well. I'm not sure about that, or what was different, just that if possible, you should go with an 87 and up. I'm hoping someone will chime in because my trans that I put in a year ago was from an '86 and it's already just about done so I'd like to see if I should rebuild it with better parts or try to find a newer one.

thank you for your quick reply i had the car checked out yesterday and im going to have the tranny rebuilt roger
