I'm restoring a 1982 Recaro T/A and noticed that the transmission (THM200C) is now slipping during acceleration from second to third gear. (The car is mechanically sound in all other respects.)
I have owned the car since May and it has 94,000 miles. In reviewing the receipts from the previous owner, who bought the car new, the transmission was rebuilt by Lee Myles at 14,000 on the odometer. (I need to go back through the receipts to determine if the filter and fluid were replaced sometime after the rebuild.) The fluid is at the proper level, appears red, and does not smell burnt.
I simply do not know enough about transmissions to determine whether the slippage problem can be corrected short of a rebuild. Thanks in advance for any input.
