T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

I see the Dorman size...
7/16-20, Thread Length: .900 Inch

The ARP and McCleod ones are
7/16-20, Thread Length: 1 Inch

I prefer the higher quality ones, but why the length difference? Will they work..

Using new GM Performance Flywheel...

Thanks....

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

And they are bolted up to the flywheel, not just sitting in the Box, correct? Thanks!

That part number says they are pressure plate bolts.

3/8-16 in. Thread length 1 inch.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

So those are currently holding the flywheel in place? Not just in the box?
Those part numbers do not match the ones ARP gave me, but it seems the specs do, they are the same size as the the first top ones except they are 1 inch in length. I did a search before asking, could not find an answer.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

You gotta be careful about extra length with flywheel bolts on 1-pc rear main seal cranks; you can't see if they're going in too far and hitting something. (which would be, the rear main cap) At least on 2-pd RMS motors you can see if they stick through too far.

There's also the question of whether they're shorter and use no washers (serrated under the head for example), or longer and have washers.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

The ones I have say "do not use washers"

Mine are not yet installed on this engine but I have used them on other builds in the past.

The flange on my 1 piece crank measures 1 3/8" thick. Add the thickness of the flywheel, there should Bo no worries using a 1" long bolt.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

When I did my swap I just went to Advanced and ordered flywheel bolts for a stock 90 T-5 car of the same year. They looked pretty similar to the one on the left, with the 12 point low profile head. The heads on the ARP bolts look kind large compared to the stock ones. They look almost twice as tall, which may be a problem if the heads contact the clutch.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

I am going with that ARP part number. I contacted ARP and they gave me the wrong ones, for a two piece rear main seal. Yours is correct for the one piece.

Thank you for your help in this matter, Jonny Blaze.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

FYI, those bolts that start with the 200 are the best ones they make, if they start with 100, they're not as good, but still better than stock.

Re: T5 Flywheel Bolt size...

I know, 200 are the pro series. I have them for my main bolts, wav loc series rod bolts, etc...

Heck even the bolts that hold the top plate on my steering box are ARP.
