4:11 gear setup question
I have an opportunity to pickup a 10 bolt disc brake rear end with some upgrades. Has 411 gears, auburn posi, boxed control arms, aftermarket panhard bar, spicer axles. All for $350.
I have a 1999 350 bottom end with 305 heads and TBI. So higher compression.
For tranny I have a WC T5
My question is does anyone have a similar setup and if so how do you like it?
I'm trying to figure out if the RPM range on the highway, and just overall if this is a good idea?
Thanks ahead of time for your info and opinions!

Re: 4:11 gear setup question
Well I went with the rear end swap and am very happy with the rear disc brakes and low end performance of the 4:11's. Posi is a nice change of pace also...
So... Assuming my tach is accurate, at 60 MPH I sit right at 3500 RPM.
That is a little uncomfortable and seems to run out of steam not far after that.
I thought with the 5th gear I might be ok, but not so sure anymore...
Still wondering if anyone is running a similar setup and what they think about it?
Or other opinions welcome...
Thanks!

Re: 4:11 gear setup question
There are calculators you can find online to figure out things like cruising RPM and things like that. Here is a link to one I used:
http://www.powerblocktv.com/resources/
So assuming you are running stock size tires, which are about 25.65 inches tall, you shouldn't be turning anywhere near 3500 RPM. Depending on which 5th gear you have, T-5's could be .75 or .63, I believe .63 is more common, you should be closer to 2000-2500 RPM at 60.

Re: 4:11 gear setup question
I have 4:56 with a 30" tall tire and at 70MPH the tach showed about 2200 rpm. I have been happy with this setup
