Im paranoid so I need some opinions guys.
So, I have a 700-R4 in my 90 RS.
To get the car to shift correctly (Kickdown at 15mph if you floor it, go into overdrive at the right time etc.) I have to keep my kick down cable adjusted all the way in.
If I used the WOT test to adjust the cable, the "correctly" adjusted cable causes my car to shift out of 1st immediately and my car would be in 4th gear at only 30-35 mph.
I went to a transmission shop who deals with our cars and they said the cars shift points were perfect when the Kickdown cable was all the way in (test drove it and all)
I fabricated a bracket and bolted it to the existing bracket so that under WOT the cable could not pull out at all, since I did that (about a year ago) my car has had great power, great shift points and the transmission has not acted any different, no slipping, no loss of gears or anything.
The guy at the transmission shop said that something inside the transmission may have broken causing the cable to need to be like this to let the car shift properly.
With the kick down cable all the way in, my car shifts into drive really, really hard which I don't mind as long as the drivability is ok. (which it is right now)
However, my paranoia has led me to ask you guys what you think, I'm not going to get a new tranny or mess with this one unless it breaks anyway but just wanted an idea.
The TV cable is new by the way.
Just to recap, it shifts into drive hard. Shifts out of 1st at around 15mph, kicks down right after it shifts into 2nd if you floor it. Goes into overdrive at highway speeds just like it should. The tranny FEELS healthy, just wanted some input, thanks for reading all of that guys

If it shifts hard and fast it sounds like it could have had an aggressive shift kit installed by a PO.
When you say it's in 4th gear doing 35 mph, how hard are you getting on it? Because if you're just barely putting down the road that's not uncommon.

Just want to clear up and say that I know the cable isn't just a kick down cable and deals with shift points and line pressure as well
Also, RedLeader, When I adjusted it the way it was supposed to be driving normal would shift way too early (2mph it would shift out of first) (Wouldn't kick down from 1st to second) I would be in 4th at 30 mph both getting on it hard and normal driving.

Mine goes into fourth around 40ish, under light throttle. I bet if I went really softly it would shift at about 35. Nothing sounds abnormal to me, seems you just want more aggressive shifting

The test I was told was driving like a grandma the car should shift into 2nd at or around 15mph

Mine has before, but only when I'm not getting on it. Also I have a TH350 so it's only a 3-speed.
Do 700R4's have a modulator valve? If so you might could look into replacing that with an adjustable one so you could set it up to wind the gears out a little more.

But even under hard acceleration , flooring it from the line, it still shifts immediately.
Under hard acceleration it is still in 4th at 30mph.
I used to floor it and it wouldn't even hold first gear it would just shift, now it holds first gear and shifts into 2nd correctly. Now, Im in 4th at around 40mph driving slow and now it downshifts right to accelerate and before it didn't.
