Trans stuck in reverse
Big problem.. Drove my 86 t/a with a 305 to work and now the car is stuck in reverse. It stalled when I got there because it shifted into reverse I assume. And now no matter where the shifter is at (automatic) it tools and is in reverse. I called a wrecker. What could be causing this? The shifter felt loose originally I just assumed due to age. Only 116k on the car.

Re: Trans stuck in reverse
shifter cable broken. reach underneath and manually shift it into drive to get it home.
(which would be two clicks back from reverse)

Re: Trans stuck in reverse
First I really appreciate it guys!! I was really worried because when my Volvo transmission died it stuck in reverse so I thought this was another rerun.. The tow was quick for being at the airport and the guy was amazing. He got under the car and confirmed it was that linkage so he manually put it in drive while I held the brake and then drove it up the flat bed.
Shop had it done 30 minutes after the tow. Said the bolts had snapped so the put on new linkage and bolts. Tow and repair ended up being 125 at a professional ase shop. Only one in town I trust and cheap too!
