4th gen rear in 92RS

Im considering putting rear from 97 with 3.42 in my now stock 92 with 3.08. What are some pros and cons? The best I can tell other than couple inches wider it is direct bolt in?

Re: 4th gen rear in 92RS

Brake lines need to be addressed, lengthened I believe. If you are still using the factory torque arm from the 3rd gen, no issues with the mount. If you are going to use the 4th gen arm, make sure that the mount works. If you've got an aftermarket torque arm, no issue. Parking brake cables need to be adapted to work, I believe that Hawks sells the parts. 4th gen wheels fit fine with no adapters, 3rd gen wheels fit (kinda, mine barely fit under the top part of the wheel arch).

Other than that, control arms/panhard bar/torque arm all physically bolt in just fine. Besides everything else, everyone who even thinks they know about cars ask why your 3rd gen wheels don't fit right.

I just did the same swap in my 91 Camaro, rearend came out of a 94. And I believe it is also the 3:43 gears. It's all mounted up perfectly, I was just wanting to know what the pigtail at the top of the housing was used for on the 94 rearend?

ABS, a 3 channel system. Just leave it in there to plug the hole and clip the wires.

Re: 4th gen rear in 92RS

Well I have yet to drive it on the road, just around my driveway, I still need exhaust and make it legal. The car use to be a 3.1 v6, I swaped it for a carbed 350 and this new rear. I do like how it's wider, I'm still using the stock rims so it gives the car a cooler looking stance. But I'll keep you posted on it, see if there's a difference.
