gl5 oil=limited slip oil?
Hi,
I'm changing oil in my rear axle that is equipped with an auburn locker. My parts dealer gave me this oil (76 high performance gear oil sae80w90) and said it is for limited slip differentials when it says gl5. http://www.greco.ge/products/gear/05.htm I found their websit and it seems that it is also suited for ls lockers but when reading around I found that people still use ls additive in their oil for ls lockers even if the oil is gl5. So what is the correct deal here? I ordered ls additive but should I add it or not to the oil?
Thanks.

I bought redline limited slip addetive, it said it was the same standard as gm 1052358...so what happens if I use that? And why should one not use any other brands than gm or ford?

Re: gl5 oil=limited slip oil?
Okay, but I'm affraid I'll just have to use what I got for now. I'll be rebuilding the rear with new gears sometome this winter so I'll get the correct additive and fresh oil then. We only got 1-1,5 months befor the car goes for winterstorage so I'll just drive it with the redline additive in that period.
Thanks for the answers
