I have an 86 trans am with a 2.73 rear. I also have a parts car 88 z28 will its rear just bolt up in place?

 

Yes, as long as they both have the same brakes.

 

Great thanks. I have upgraded rotors and calipers on 2.73 rear. Shouldnt be a problem to switch them over.

 

Yep a direct bolt in swap, but you might not be gaining much. Most of the '88 Irocs came with the same 2.73 gear if auto car, 3.08 if man. trans car

With a G92 option then a 3.23

 

Good to know. He upgraded stuff in car if you do the spin the wheel and count the driveshaft spins a 3.45 rear. Yes 3.45 not 3.42 i misprinted it in op. Thanks for the responses and help

 

Ok so its a 3.42 rear. Im not a gears person. clearly. But hey its why you guys are here right.

 

The 3.45 gear was G92 performance axle option for the '88 but it will be the 9 bolt borg warner rear end, not the 10 bolt.

No factory option for a 3.42 gear in a V8 1988 F body, but it's not that big of thing to re gear or have rear end re geared, or to even swap whole rear end out so maybe that's what was done.

 

Ok. So he did have the rear re geared. Its the 3.42. His car drove great ,pulled hard. His is 350 not my lil lg4. Thanks for your help Knight rider327
