84 sport coupe 350 v8

Love my car I just got a few weeks ago... A little car history
Sat up for 10 years
Since in my hands I have flushed the engine, fuel tanks added all new oils and trans gaskets updated cat converter...
Engine 350 v8 5.0 has under 65,000 miles so I want to keep it for now... But I do want to make some upgrades I was thinking of purchasing a new 700r4 trans because the one I have in it now seems to not shift properly and it looses power when I go up hill "point in begin a few times going up a steep parking lot structure It dragged *** big time" can I just make a swap out for a high performance trans or should I just purchase a after market 700r4

No help? Is there any test I can do on the trans to figure out what's wrong
When I start up the car my rpms are high above 10 and when I'm driving sometimes the rpms won't go past ten

I would check to see if the engine is either a 350 or 305 (350 = 5.7 and 305 = 5.0) it may also be worth while to check and see if your TV cable is properly adjusted.

Re: 84 sport coupe 350 v8

Post a picture of where it says 350 5.0, sounds like somebody stuck a sticker on it.

The 305 is a 5.0 L engine and the 350 is a 5.7 L engine.

Check and adjust the TV cable on trans.

Get a timing light and check and adjust timing as needed.

Replace spark plugs, plug wires, dist. cap, rotor button.
Replace fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve.

A good tune up will help your up hill struggle a lot
