1330 U Joint Help...

Yes... did a search...

I have a 1330 yoke (for front of shaft to T5/Astro A5)

I read the steel drive shafts use a 3R.
Aluminum (which I have) use a 1310...

So I got a 1330 / 1310 conversion U Joint...
Fits in the yoke, but not the drive shafts

Any help is appreciated... car is at mechanics ready to button it up....

Thanks,

Rafael

Re: 1330 U Joint Help...

Google 3R 1310 1330 1350 for specs
Then measure your parts.

3R is measured differently and may be the size for your aluminum. If it had inner c-clips, clipped on the caps inside the yoke, that's probably it. Clips out on top of the caps are likely 13x0.

There are conversion joints for all combinations of the above.

And fire any "mechanic" who doesn't know those 4 service numbers by heart.

Re: 1330 U Joint Help...

The alum. driveshaft for third and 4th gens uses 1310 U joints, the rear joint will be a 3R to 1310 conversion joint to fit the rear end pinion yoke ( 3R) and the driveshaft (1310).. IIRC they used a trans slip yoke for a 1310 joint on the alum. driveshaft cars.

I have Neapco part numbers

The 3R joint is # 2-3011

The 1310 joint is # 1-0153

The 1310 to 3R joint is # 3-3130

So if you have the std. 700r4 yoke.. You will need 2) 3-3130 U joints to fit that alum. driveshaft to your rear end and transmission.

The 2R U joint has 1.125" caps, while the 1310 has 1.063" caps. The 3R is inside locks and the 1310 is outside locks

Re: 1330 U Joint Help...

Although there are many different parts numbers, other than the 3R GM number all the 13x0 numbers are standard Spicer series numbers and any good parts person will know what fits what.

Simplest way...

Determine exactly which u-joint fits the diff yoke. Either that or you need to remove the diff yoke to take it with you. Take the front slip yoke and driveshaft to your local parts store and have them measure and find out which conversion u-joint you require.

Re: 1330 U Joint Help...

The slip yoke is not the problem... it mounted to the 1330 side...
the "1310" side to drive shaft is... they must have sent the wrong U joint, cuz I've been driving with the aluminum driveshaft for 10 years...

Re: 1330 U Joint Help...

Precision 1330 44RS....

1330 went on slip yoke side...
44RS went on drive shaft side....

44RS comes up with Dana 44 via searches...

Not sure how that corresponds to 3rd / 4th gen aluminum drive shaft... but that is what fit...

Re: 1330 U Joint Help...

44RS is the 3R. I think 3R is GM-speak for it.
