1983 A3 tranny loud bang, still runs just fine
2.8l v6 with the A3 tranny
This morning when I was driving the first wierd thing to happen was the engine revving up and down for no reason, with no change in acceleration while doing so (as if you pushed the clutch in and let it out real quick on a manual).
The next thing was a few miles later I heard (and felt) a loud bang coming from the transmission.
I arrived at school 2 blocks later, and the car seemed to run and drive just fine still. When I checked the fluid level the dipstick had no fluid on it. I've already put 2 quarts in and still don't see anything on the stick.

If your "that" concerned, take it to a trans shop, pay the fee and have them take it apart. Other wise, "no harm no foul".
