t5 vss adapter question in need of help!!
hey guys this thing is driving me nuts. I swapped a t5 in my car (had a 700r4) and of I got a t5 from a camaro with the mechanical speedo gear. So I bought a vss adapter from painless wiring its a 2 ppm sensor and my speedo doesn't work. Doing my research and I'm even more lost some people say you need a 2k some say a 4k ppm. The car is a 1987 firebird and it's factory carberauted if that helps. Anyone help would be appreciated I want to get this sucker ready for spring. Thanks

Earlier years had a 2k PPM sensors, later years had 4k PPM. I thought 87 was still the earlier 2k PPM, but I could be mistaken.

I believe the 86-up `bird speedometers were all 4004 pulse.
My understanding of it is the VSS divider box steps the signal down and sends 2002 to the ECMs that use that signal (All LG4, MAF TPI, maybe all TBI?), 4004 to the speedo, and whatever cruise was using that year.
As for why the different sensor early and late, I don't know offhand.
