Perfect Launch Diff covers.

Hi Guy's

Just a quick question, i'm swapping my old brake drums for the Right Stuff detailing disc up-grade kit. However, I've come up against 4 bolts on the diff cover that I'm going to have to grind off. (tried everything to move em)
So I've decided to replace the bolts and the old cover. I'd like to fit a Perfect Launch diff cover, but can anyone tell me which cover will fit my 91 3.1 V6?

Summit have three Perfect Launch 10 bolt covers for GM 7.50 - 8.2 & 8.5 diffs and I have no clue as to which one to order!

I can't find any numbers on my diff as corrosion has taken away all traces of them, but I'm pretty sure I have a standard diff.

I'm off to bed now as it's late here in the UK, but I'd be greatful if anyone could let me know which one would fit my car.

All the best, Speed.

Re: Perfect Launch Diff covers.

There were only 2 ear ends installed in the 3rd gen Camaros. The most common is the 7.5 10 bolt and the other was the Borg Warner 9 bolt. The 9 bolt was only installed in high performance models from '85 to '89. Your V6 would have had the 7.5.

Dana 44 was installed by SLP, not GM.

Re: Perfect Launch Diff covers.

Dealer installed, not factory installed. That would be great to take your car in with a broken 7.5 and come out with a new Dana 44!

Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm going to give Summit a call a little later this evening to order everything. I just need to find out if they sell the shortened brake pipes for the conversion now.

Thanks again, Speed!

I would guess that you will have to make up those brake lines yourself.

Just been on to Summit and ordered my stuff, came to $866 all in including the the drum to disc kit, diff cover and brake lines. Got hit with a hefty $222 shipping bill to the UK and I've not even added import and duties yet!!

Anyway, apparently Right Stuff do have the shortened fixed brake lines to go with the upgrade kit, I went with the stainless steel ones to help cope with our damp climate.

Speed.

Re: Perfect Launch Diff covers.

Good to know. I've always made up my own lines because I figured it would be a custom made part. That will make your job easier.

I think it sucks that you guys have to pay so much to get stuff from here. I was in business for myself for 15 years and it was always hard for me to tell someone how much their parts were going to be and then have to add several hundred dollars for the shipping, duty and other stuff. I've had to add as much as $400 or more to some orders.

Re: Perfect Launch Diff covers.

Yep know what you mean, when I first got my car 13 years ago importing really worked out. Now it costs more than if I'd bought the stuff from over here! Probably explains why I see less and less Third Gens over here each summer
