I have a hurst dual gate, on a 700r4, I can now move the shifter back and forth with no lag, it doesnt shift gears, etc.

Ive already narrowed it down to the shifter cable, since I have it detached from the hurst, and I can move it freely by hand, please dont let it be a broken cable, I had some play in the line earlier this year, so Im sure it just popped out of the tranny.. Not sure.

Where is the shifter cable located ON the tranny, (obviously i know where it is on the shifter)

What's the best way of getting to it?

 

LH side of the tranny right where the shift lever is. Maybe the cotter pin just fell out and the cable came off the shift lever. Get under the car and look.

 

The cable snaps into a bracket that's held on by two pan bolts. It seems the cable housing has a tendancy to break around there. It's not that big of a chore to replace. I've done it before without even jacking the car up.
