Re: Need info

I would tell the guy to drain some fluid, set it to the correct level and then we'll talk after we see if it gets it's memory back.
Or,plan on a rebuild.

No need to listen to a bunch of used-car-seller mealy-mouth weasel-words. Cut to the chase, see if it really works or not. Drain it yourself if you have to. Adjust the price accordingly.

Being a 700R4, it has no "memory". Purely mechanical/hydraulic. Either it works or it doesn't, pure and simple. It "remembers" absolutely nothing whatsoever at all ever for even the slightest length of time. Either it works with the right amount of fluid, or it doesn't.

Q: How can you tell a used-car seller is lying?
A: His lips are moving.

Q: How can you tell a used-car seller is stabbing you in the back?
A: He's smiling.

Eliminate the bullshit and jump directly to the truth, don't let the stars in your eyes get in the way.

Re: Need info

How much ya wanna bet that this alleged "350" magically turns back into a 305 the minute some money changes hands?

Good idea to just walk away from that one.

I should correct myself: the 700-R4 trans DOES have a limited memory, of ONE thing: being ruined. Burned up, tore up, etc. It remembers that. Doesn't forget it so easily, unfortunately.

Re: Need info

A trade is kinda the same thing as money; once the seller has the thing of value and you have the thing that maybe has less than you were led to believe in the beginning...

But yeah, glad to hear you decided to walk. I REALLY hate seeing people get screwed, which this had all the earmarks of. Too bad the bait was one of these cars.
