b&m megashifters help much?
b&m megashifters help much?
ok this may sound stupid but what makes the b&m shifter so much better...i know it allows full rachet shifting but what exactly does that mean...also will it keep you from going past 4th gear into nuetral, reverse and park unless you pull the lever so its impossible to shift to far?
the b&m shifter only shifts one gear at time like 1 to 2 & 2 to 3 and so on but you can up shift to neutral but not rev or park without putting the shifter into drive and lifting the t handle. i like mine use it all the time i have a man valve body.

Let me put it to you this way. When I first got my car the tranny acted funny and shifted better when manually shifting. Well, one day I went to pass this truck I was in D and went to shift to OD( like I said it shifted funny and this made it shift better), what happened was I shifted right from D to N with it floored. Not a good thing. Now I can shift without sliding into the next gear.

I use one in my race car. It just allows you to ratchet through the gears without going past any.
If you pull the stock shifter down into first then push up during each gear you can easily push past each one. There usually isn't a problem since if you go from 1-2 and actually put it in 3 the car still won't shift to 3 at WOT until the govener pressure is higher.
The biggest thing you don't want to do is shift into neutral when decelerating or even worse, shifting up into reverse.
The ratchet shifter leaves no room for error. What you shift from 1-2 it goes one gear and one gear only until you shift again.
For a street car with a full automatic transmission this option is only a fun feature. For a race car it's a necessity especially with a full manual valve body. It you overshift coming down the gears it's like downshifting a manual tranny into first then dropping the clutch while still going fast.
My manual valve body also has a reverse shift pattern. P-R-N-1-2-3 Once I'm in third gear it's impossible to go to neutral without downshifting and I'll have to slow down before doing that.
