4l60E rebuild problems. Need help.

Ok. So this is the second trans I have rebuilt. The first was a 700R4 for my camaro which worked perfectly, this one is in my 2003 truck.

I rebuilt the transmission, just got it installed last night. Put it in drive and it locks up the motor and stalls it out.

So I disconnected the drive shaft and put it in gear and the tailshaft spins just fine. So it seems that if the truck is at a stop the trans doesn't disengage the motor.

I'm a newb at this trans stuff and have no idea where to start looking for my problem. Anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem and what to look for?

I did the transgo spacer plate, the orange box shift kit from transgo, beast sun shell, and corvette servo. Other than that I just replaced clutches and steels.

Update. I pulled the transmission back out and tore it back down. I checked all the clutch clearances and endplay. Everything was in spec according to the ATSM manual. I put in a different torque converter and replaced all of the electronics.

I reinstalled everything and have the same issue. Idles fine. If I put it in gear with the wheels up it will spin the wheels and shift all the way up through 70MPH. If I bring the wheels to a stop it stalls the motor.

Any guesses?

I'm not great at transmission work, but others would probably ask what it does in every other gear selection? What does it do with transmission electrical connector unplugged?

Yup for whatever reason the converter is locked up. Go ahead and troubleshoot the lockup circuit, which could have any number of elements in it based on year of truck/trans.

Did you change anything in the pump? Which numbered TransGo separator plate did you use here?

Just seals in the pump got changed. I did replace the pressure regulator springs with the ones out of the shift kit.
Plate number is 46-PLT-96.

Found my problem.... Turns out the rebuilder (me) is an idiot and put the TCC valve in and the springs behind it! What a stupid mistake! I hate being inexperienced! Thanks for the help guys.

That is great news, doing the rebuild yourself and finding the Tcc problem and repairing the problem, that kind of experience is worth it's weight in gold in my opinion.

I'm happy it was a simple mistake and it will never happen again. (not that one at least) You're right experience is worth more than anything.
