700r4 4-3 downshift

allright allright I know its all been said before so installed the sonnax tv plunger and sleeve kit 77966-94mk. supposed to eliminate the 4-3 downshift at wide open throttle. problem is it still down shifts. any thoughts on this? could the tv cable still be adjusted wrong?

I can't speak for the Sonnax but some of the a/m valves still allow the downshift.

From their website:

http://www.sonnax.com/parts/2513-thr...nger-valve-kit

"Prevents forced 4-3 kickdown below three-quarter throttle"

The B-Body fix kit (discontinued) or the stock sleeve modified is the way to go.

Re: 700r4 4-3 downshift

With the modified sleeve, I could do a 4-3 shift at anything below 85 mph. Once you get past that, it would stay in O/D. So yes, you can still make a 4-3 shift when you're on the highway and want to pass somebody.

Re: 700r4 4-3 downshift

Yes, that is correct. Depending on the rear end gear ratio, will mostly determine when the 4-3 downshift goes away. 80 - 85 mph seems to be the numbers I have seen when it stops downshifting using the modified TV plunger sleeve.

Re: 700r4 4-3 downshift

that's good to know. wonder how it would be with 4.11 vs your 3.27 gears. and is it going to try and make a wot 3/4 upshift above 80-85?

Re: 700r4 4-3 downshift

With the lower the gears 3.73's, 4.11's, 4.56's the lower the speed to get 3-4 WOT shifts and eliminate 4-3 downshifts when blocking the 4-3 passages in the TV plunger sleeve or the aftermarket sleeve.
