G-body axle part compatible?

92 z28 lt1 swap w/ 93 rear ended 3.42s
So as it states will g-body axle parts such as moser 28 spline c clip axles and 3.73 locker from a 7.5 fit into a f-body 7.5 or 7.625 housing. Could be really simple answer but really wondering due to I can get them at a good price. Thanks

if it's for a 10-bolt, it should interchange.

Re: G-body axle part compatible?

i'd get more info first. you dont want a spool for the street IMO. better find out what exact carrier it is before you buy.

Re: G-body axle part compatible?

The '93 rear end will have 28 spline axles. The 7.5 rear end was made with 26 spline axles up to about '89, and then upgraded to 28 spline axles. You must use a 28 spline unit with 28 spline axles. Also, there are 2 and 3 series differentials for the 7.5-7.6 rear end. The 2 series is for 2.14 to 3.08 gears and the 3 series is for 3.23 to 4.56 gears. You must have the correct series for the gears that you are running.

If everything matches up then you can use G body 7.5 parts in the F body rear end.

The Locker is probably a Governor Lock. If it is then you don't want it. Get pictures and post them here so we can identify it.

Can't really tell from that position, but it looks like a Detroit Locker or Grizzly Locker. Those run about $750.

It's definitely not a Governor Lock, Auburn or Eaton Posi.

Re: G-body axle part compatible?

Yes, that would be good for street strip. That is about as strong as you can get and still work on the street. It will pop and jerk some, especially if you have a manual transmission. I have a Detroit Locker in my 4 speed '69 Camaro, a Grizzly Locker in my 5 speed '02 S10 and a Lock Right in my 5 speed '99 S10. I love them, but a lot of people hate them because of the noise and jerking. I don't mind it at all. Just be sure of what it is before you buy it.

Yes I have stick, t5 for now. How smooth is everyday driving with that type of rear end? Like straight shots, and light turning.

Re: G-body axle part compatible?

I've got use to driving with a locker. I've had one in my daily driver for over 20 years, so I don't notice a lot of things anymore. Sometimes you have to slip the clutch and use a higher gear for slow tight turns to keep it from jerking. Turning sharp corners isn't as smooth as with a normal differential. Sometimes it will surprise you with a loud pop that sounds like something in the rear end broke, but that's normal. It will never slip, and that is what I like the most. No matter what you get into, both wheels will pull when you need them. If you watch the Mustangs and other cars at the drag strip with a clutch type differential when they are doing their water burnouts you will notice that some of them will start out spinning both tires, and then one tire will slow down and almost stop spinning. You will never have to worry about this with the locker.
