700R4 won't move in Overdrive, Drives Normally in Drive.
Earlier today while I was driving my car was running normally. I was driving down a back road waiting to turn on to a highway, My car had been in overdrive. After I made the turn my car wouldn't accelerate and was acting like it was in Neutral. The engine revs but the car won't physically move!
When I put it in Drive it drives normally but of course no 4th gear. However both Neutral and Overdrive act like I am in neutral.
Any idea of what it could be?
I'm guessing it's time for a rebuild.
Edit:
Problem Solved, the input sprag inside the tranny broke.

Your description of when the problem occurs isn't clear. It seems like your car moved off from a stop in OD and then acted like it was in neutral?
With the trans in OD, does it move forward from a standing stop?
Or does it act like it's in neutral after it shifts into 2nd or 3rd gear?

I would check the shifter cable. Take it off and make sure when the car is in park the end of the cable lines up with the linkage. Then do the same thing in drive. Good luck!

However, I had the headers done in October and it's now March do you think it would take that long to notice?
I'm taking it to the transmission shop tomorrow, hopefully I can find more answers.

I forgot to update this thread. In case anyone was wondering, it was the input sprag broke.

My 700 is doing the same thing, put it in OD and acts like neutral, shift down 1 gear and goes. Ugh, at least I have an idea
