Governor adjustment 700r4

I want to lower my wide open throttle shift point from just over 5K where it is now to somewhere closer to 4500 to 4600 RPM. I'm running a stock 305 TPI and it's out of steam by the time it gets to 5000 rpm, but with the transgo 2-3 kit and the fresh rebuild I just completed its shifting just over 5000, where it's wheezing and barely accelerating. This will be a temporary solution until I can hopefully do some intake and exhaust mods to get me a little extra top-end.

From what I've gathered from searching here and on Google I need to increase the governor weights and /or put in stiffer springs.

Is that all there is to it? How much weight should I increase to to get to around 4600 RPM wide open?

I would go to the wrecking yard and just try to find a TBI Truck or Van governor. Stick it in there and see what you get from it. The TBI trucks barely turned 4-4.5K at WOT in stock form. 6.2 diesel is even lower, like 3,800 rpm. Just avoid the ones from a 2.8. Stock 2.8 governor I put in my old G20 shifted in the 5.5-6K range.
