1988 700r4 2.8L 3.42 governor Q

would a 700r4 governor in an 88 2.8L 3.42 car be lighter weights than a V-8 one ? anything to saveopff the 2.8L tranny thatd be a good thing for improving an 82-84 V-8 700r4 ?

gotta know in a couple days or less, car will be in scrap by then, i have short time window to grab parts off it..

thanks for anything

Get an '88 V-8 core and use the VB and Governor from the 2.8. Then use the TransGo Reprogramming or Shift Kit along with the High Rev Pump Kit and you will be in great shape.

good deal, so use the VB too , neato.. hmm ill have to ****** the VB and gov then off this 2.8L one, hate to waste a perfectly good 2.8L 700r4 but oh well, good for the V-8 one in the good car

the v-6 gov must have lighter weights then huh

thanks

Like Leo said, you'll need to use a 1988 & later transmission to use this valve body and plate.

A) Not all had the Aux. even in '87 and B) it is different than the '88-up, hence the answer.

As long as you have the Aux. VB and use the Seperator Plate that came with the '88 VB you are OK. Are you saying you HAVE an '87 Trans or you are just curious about this?
