4.2 i6 swap in 89 firebird
is it possible to swap a 4.2 vortex into a third gen firebird? I plan on taking out my 2.8 and putting this motor in instead so I can twin turbo/twin procharge it a lot easier. I know I can make a lot of boost with this motor but I need to know if I can put it in without cutting a hole in my firewall. I think it would be a good idea but I could be wrong but then again I can say i'm the only one to do it if its possible.

It is possible to swap a VORTEC I6 but it would require a lot of fabrication and custom work. I cant think of a reason it would be a good idea power or money wise unless you wanted to be super diff rent for the sake of being different

what fabrication would it all require? I know I would need to change my motor mounts and have to rewire the new computer into my car, but what else would it require besides that?

the motor i'm looking has 275 hp already and the 4.2 i6 can take about 10 pounds of boost so that adds up to a lot of ponies

Engine mounts will have to be created. Possible clearance of the K member. The length might be an issue you might have to do something special with the radiator. Depending on your trans you will need to fab an adapter plate or new mount / tq arm mount. A turbo kit will have to be from scratch. Seems like if you are going the FI route a 5.3LS would be a better option

Somebody did it already, white Camaro with a turbo. Forget the guys username. Pretty sure the k member needs a lot of work and hood clearance in the front, that motor is very tall.
