Car hesitates - What wrong?
Car hesitates - What wrong?
So, I’m not a mechanic and I’m looking for some guidance here. I have an 89TA with manual transmission. Recently I have noticed that the car is hesitating when I step on the gas. Specifically the rpms will shoot up but it takes a second or two for the car to actually give any power. I also notice that it will grind when I try to put it in reverse, even when at a complete stop. A friend told me it may be a bad clutch, but I want to make sure I am heading down the right path. I have about 90k on the car and I’m assuming it’s all original. Thoughts?

James- thanks for the tip. I’m less concerned about that than the lack of power and hesitation when I hit the gas. Trying to figure out if that’s from a bad clutch or something else.
