SWAPPING OUT 9 BOLT FOR?

On my to do list for the IROC(that may or may not get done this summer) was going to a 3.70/73 rear. After researching what it would cost to beef up the 9 bolt, wondering if I should just put it on a shelf and swap in a 12 bolt or 9 inch? As I've stated in another post, my ultimate goal is to "only" go hopefully 10's on nitrous with the car occasionally. Not planning to go bracket racing every weekend. But do plan on a couple trips a year to the track. At least till I'd get kicked out for not having a roll cage in a t-top car, lol. I've seen our cars break factory rears on the starting line... Not cool!

The 12 bolt is lighter and takes a little less power to turn than the 9 inch. For a 10 second car it should be plenty strong. I haven't had any experience with the Hawks 8.8, but I do know that the 8.8 rear end in general is a strong one.
