9” brake options

I’m going to order a 9” housing from quick performance and I’m not sure what to order for brakes. I have the 9bolt with disk brakes currently and would like to keep rear disks but I run 15 inch wheels for the track so I have to be careful of the size of the brakes. Will the 93-97 Camaro brakes fit inside of a 15” wheel? I believe they are slightly smaller than the later ls style brakes. I didn’t see an option to adapt the stock disks to the 9”.

Re: 9” brake options

You have allot of options but pick your brakes before ordering your rear axle. Do you want a parking brake? You can bolt on 98-02 fbody rear brakes but you will need to grind the calipers to clear some wheels. Otherwise you can go with a willwood setup. I guess what are your plans for the car?

The Ford Explorer brakes are a popular option for the 9 inch. You can get them with or without the parking brake. QP can help you with your decision.

I run factory 89 PBR brakes on my moser 9" with my 15" welds for the track. It's close but works. Some have had to grind a bit off the caliper fin area to work.

Re: 9” brake options

Did you use the factory bracket or did you fabricate one?

Re: 9” brake options

Me? I used the factory 89 brackets. Had to drill some holes but no big deal.
