4L60E No RPM drop

4L60E No RPM drop
Hello everyone,
Just noticed there's no RPM drop when shifting from park into reverse or drive. I know this is a feature to protect the drivetrain of the shock caused by engine torque on instant application. However, reacently noticed sometimes when shifting into reverse or drive there's no engine RPM drop and sometimes after 3 seconds the RPMs drop. Gear engagement is instant, I mean, there's no delay on gear application, just sometimes RPM stay the same. Also noticed engine performance is degraded feeling sluggish when this happens. No PCM codes.
What could it be?
Best,
Your help will be appreciated.

Re: 4L60E No RPM drop
Most engines equipped w/4L60E have ECMs with a bunch of intelligence, that learn about how much more throttle is required in gear, to hold the RPMs the same as out of gear. Nothing about "shock" really.
Sometimes I wish 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird were equipped with something like that. Butt alas... no features from the future.
