Th350 swap

I'll try to make this short and sweet.

92 Trans Am
SBC
Th350 short tail
Strange 12 bolt rear (4th gen specs)

Whats the driveshaft length?
Before u tell me to search, I have. Everything tells me how to find out. Im doing this alone and my arms don't spread that far. Just need the correct length before I purchase another driveshaft that's the wrong size. Thanks

Re: Th350 swap

3" longer than the stock one and it will fit. Could also get a 9" Truck tail from TH350 also and you won't need a driveshaft.

Re: Th350 swap

My trans was already in and I didn't wanna take it back out to switch the tail shaft and housing. I finally got a second set of hands over here and got the right measurements. 44 1/4" is what it is. Perfect fit! The trans yoke is 3/4-1” out when the car sits all four tires on the ground. Still not sure y no one could just tell me that measurement. But hopefully the next time someone searched for this they'll find this post. Again my car has a 4th rear with a short tail (6 inches) th350 and a sbc 383.

Re: Th350 swap

easy math.. TH350 9" tail is a same length as a 700R4. I know this since I have this in my 86 Firebird using the OEM Aluminum shaft. You put in TH350 6" or short tail. Add 3" to the old driveshaft. 4th gen rear doesn't matter since you can swap driveshafts from 3rd or 4th gens with no issues so they must of placed the rearends in the same location on both generations of cars or very close. You can measure like you did but the 82-92 OEM length is around 41 1/2. You measured 44 1/4.

Just saves time if you had to crawl under car.

Re: Th350 swap

U r the only person to give me any length at all. But as I stated, I had too much difficulty doing it alone. Hell I got different measurements 5 times 😂. Once I got help holding everything in place, it was cake.
