auto to manual

I have a 1992 RS with a 305 and I would love to change to a manual transmission. Looking for some advice on how much I'm looking at to do this and how much of a hassle it will be. And if anybody has gone thru with this--any warnings would be nice too!

There's a tech article about this here at thirdgen.org. I was pondering the same thing, until I read the article and thought about it for a little while. Too much work/time, too much chance I'd screw things up (maybe you're more adept, tho), too expensive, not enough return.

Good luck if you do it.

its not hard really. just need the transmission, bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, pedals, master/slave cylinders and some time. its not hard and its not rocket science, just buy a good factory manual, study it, use it as your going along through the swap and you will be fine. study a little bit on how the clutch works and stuff like that if you dont already know,

probably alot i know it got me. i saw it one night in a written on a bathroom stall wall after a night of heavy heavy drinking. all i kept thinking was "yeah i know" i saw that when i was 18 or 19, its stuck with me ever since.

btw, i was 19 when i did my first transmission swap by myself. its not hard at all. when i was 19 i was nowhere near a good mechanic, i just went slow and did everything right and torqued down everything twice. the transmission never had a problem (with the swap, i grenaded the transmission and had to get it rebuilt)
