torque converter?

hello all, I'm still pretty new to this so if I screw something up please forgive me.
Anyhow i'm going to be putting a B&M shift kit in my 700r4 this spring and since you guys seem to know what you're talking about I was wondering if you could give me some advice on deciding how high of a stall should I get.
My motor is essentially stock if that helps.

Re: torque converter?

An S10 TC will only run you $140 or so and give your stock 305 a 22-2400 stall which is perfect for mild street engine. I love mine.

Re: torque converter?

I agree with the 2200-2400. I had a zz4 cammed L98 with a converter about those specs and it made a big difference.

Re: torque converter?

I also agree that's the best choice for a stock engine and they are inexpensive. I have a 3000 stall non-locking converter behind my stock LB9 and while it is a lot of fun, it's probably not the best choice for most people. Mine came with the trans I got from a friend and I'm dropping in a built motor to go with it soon. For the stock engine it's a little high in the RPM range as the redline on the stock engine is too low. I had to swap out the governor on the race trans with a stock one as it wanted to shift above the LB9's redline. It's pretty fun with 3.70's and the 3k stall - it does decent burn outs for being a pathetic little engine.

Re: torque converter?

First, get rid of the B&M kit. I have the modified TransGo Shift kit with Corvette servo and the larger boost valves, that will offer much more than the B&M in terms of smooth part throttle shifts and the shift getting firmer with more throttle. The stall would be 2,200 -2,400 rpm at the most with a 12" Edge torque converter, that you would want here. What is the rear end gear ratio here? How do you drive? Conservative? Moderate? Moderate aggressive? Or aggressive?

Re: torque converter?

According to my RPO codes, I have the 3.27 rear end. And my driving style is closer to moderate aggressive than i'd like to admit.
