Is there a Gasket inbetween the TV cable and tranny?

Axle/Gears: 9 Bolt 3:27
Is there a Gasket inbetween the TV cable and tranny?

Where the TV cable bolts down with 1 bolt. Is there a gasket in between there or should i use rtv.

Yes, oh *** yes theres a gasket in there. I didn't think there was and caused the mother of all transmission leaks a few weeks a go. You can get it at Autozone etc and it cost me I think $6. Just make sure to get all the remains of the old seal out or the new one'll never go in.

Also disconnect it from the carb or throttle body first or you will never get it out. You just need to disconnect it from the linkage to release the tension on the spring in the tranny. Don't be afraid, the rod will not fall into the pan. They made it for idiots like us

It is a TV top hat seal, costs about .35 cents. Most people forget to take out the old one, this causes... well you know what. Make sure you oil the seal first, and do the install carefully.

Axle/Gears: 9" from 57 ranchero unsure gears.
the top hat seal is for the dip stick, the TV cable is just an O-Ring atleast thats how it was with mine

That is probably the reason it is leaking. It takes a top hat seal similar to the dipstick.
