To tohse who had the pionion seal replaced
I read about 20 posts and i cant seem to get myself the nerve to do the seal myself. As far as the rearend goes, it is a bit to intimidating and i can admit when i dont wanna get in over my head. I know those who have doen it say its easy, but to those of you who had a garage do it, what did they charge you. Was it an all day ordeal? I just wanna get this fixed, i can actually smell the gear oil heating up when i finish driving.

I was gonna have a garage put a pinion seal in my rear end but it turned out the posi unit was bad so I ended up getting a whole new rear. It only cost $280-300 to put seals in the new rear and install it, I like the guy was gonna charge like $100-150 to put in the pinion bearing and seals in my old rear. BTW I dropped the car off one day and picked it up the next. Not to bad. I was gonna do the same when it was just the pinion bearing and seal, but I think it was only gonna take an hour or two.

The last one I did took about 20-30 minutes. The seal cost a few bucks. If you do have somebody do it, save yourself a little money and purchase the seal and bring it in. 60 bucks sounds about right. It's way cheaper than replacing everthing thing in the case when you run low on fluid.
