TH200 or 350?
TH200 or 350?
I Currently have an '82 Camaro with the original TH200 3-speed tranny. I have now put in a mildly built up 350 and I want to put in a nitrous kit. Is it worth putting a shift kit in this tranny and having it rebuilt with a stall converter or should I just buy a TH350 and put it in that? This car is only ever driven on city streets, not highway so I don't have a problem with a 3-speed. Should I even use the 3-speed or go with a 700-r4(which I hear aren't a "bullet proof"? Is there anyway that I could use nitrous right off the line?
If you like 3 speeds, get a Turbo 350 with a 9" tailshaft. It will go right in and you can retain your current driveshaft, torque arm etc. If you get a 700-R4, you'll need to replace those parts, but you'll get a deeper first gear and better gas mileage.

Actually you'll need the 6" tail shaft TH350 to keep the same driveshaft. The 200c is shorter than the 700R4 so you need the longer driveshaft. If you use the 9" tailshaft TH350 just pull a driveshaft out of any other third gen that didn't come with a 200c and use it.
