Assuming it is in good shape, you should be able to get at least a couple of hundred dolars for it. A few weeks back, someone was selling a BW rear on e-bay. Last I checked, it was up to $212 dollars. There was quite a bit of bid activity on it since they are hard to find.

If you were willing to buy one from Hawaii how about a very similar one from Canada? The shipping would still kill you but if you're that desparate. I only want $500 Canadian plus shipping for mine. That works out to about $310 US at todays exchange rate.

Has everything listed in the first post except the e-brake cables and it has 3" long 1/2" wheels studs. It's heavy so I know shipping will be expensive.

I got one for sale. It's a 2.77 with brand new Bendix pads, A-1 Cordone calipers, new hardware, full of fresh Mobil 1 synthetic oil. I bought it for $300 and put all the new brakes on it. I would want $300 for it. It has about $130 worth of new brakes on it. I would also trade for engine parts since I'm putting together a killer 350. Email me for details.

Wait until you need a replacement rear and try to locate one, that
2:77 b-w is gone to look pretty good. The used parts market is starting to dry up in some locations and if you do find one it may be junk.

actually, i just was looking for and bought a replacement. i bought a 97 z28 rear end with 3.42s and complete from caliper to caliper for 300. only 37000 miles. i have seen the complete 2.77 rear ends sell for as low as 150.

Ref was made on the availability of Third Gen rear axle assemblies
and not to the over wide Fourth Gen ones with their wheel and brake problems.

hey the wider 4th gen rear gives it a nice stance i understand where your comming from on your comments, but 300 for a 2.77 is a bit steep, cause your stuck with 2.77's, or have to spend another 400 for a carrier, then another 300 for gears and ~100 for an install kit. then the 300 dollar rear turned into a 1100 dollar rear.

Borg Warner 9-bolt rear

The rear is tough to sell if incomplete, since internal parts are hard to find. Some new gears are made but can cost up to $500 a set! Ouch. We have some parts at our shop for those who still want to restore the 9-bolt, but if you want to put some HP in your car, you should upgrade. People with a 7.5-inch stock rear should at least consider going 8.5-inch with aftermarket parts, rather than replacing parts when they go. We don't get Camaros and Firebirds just to pick up Grandma from the doctor's...
