Driveshaft for 3rd gen

I recently swapped a v6 motor for a 305 and put a 350th short tail trans in my car. I’m having a hard time finding a drive shaft that will fit. The stock driveshaft is about 2 in shorter. This is my first time needing a drive shaft and I honestly am not sure what to look for. Any help is appreciated

I currently have a TH350 behind the 400 Pontiac in my ‘88. I encountered the same situation you have and ended up getting a driveshaft from a 78-87 G-Body car that originally had the same transmission and shortened it. I do believe that some early cars may have had the TH350 but I’m not positive. I do believe also there was a TH200 that was in theses cars as well, but again I don’t know if lengths are same and whatnot.

Re: Driveshaft for 3rd gen

I think that one for an '82 or '83 will be the proper length. As they didn't have the OD transmissions. Could always get a new one from a place such as Denny's.

And you could look through the phone book, find a machine shop near you who can fix you up. Just my guess if I had the perfect shaft for you, and I mailed it to you, it would be as much or more than doing it local and having it made or yours altered.

Does anyone actually go to a shop anymore, or live online and ...

Never mind.

RBob.

Can anyone confirm the length of the 82-83 Driveshaft should be ?? Best I can come up with so far is 3" longer than the 700R4 version = 44 1/2" Just looking to confirm this info.
