Posi rear identification

I am trying to figure out what manufacturer made this posi gear. It looks like an Auburn from pics I have seen but it has that added "gear" on the pinion gear? Is this an Eaton? Most of the pics I see the pinion gear does not have the added gear. I assume that gear is part of the carrier and not the pinion itself. Also what does that gear drive?

Thanks

Re: Posi rear identification

looks like that might be from an early 4th gen-the gear like piece is a "tone ring"-there is a magnetic pickup that is close to the teeth that creates a variable frequency impulse as the gear rotates for the speedo or ABS brakes.93-97 4th gen used the Eaton posi.

That's just a carrier with an ABS tone ring. Still an Auburn. Still junk.

I notice it has springs just like an eaton posi. How can you tell the difference between auburn & eaton? Is it the tapered end of the carrier case that tells them apart?

The cast, unmachined carrier, tapered ring gear mount, etc. It's a 4th gen 3 series Auburn - in other words - "scrap metal"
