I'm looking to buy a T5 from a lady that lives 3 hours away from me and she sent me these pictures. She is basically selling a kit to swap my 700r4. She then sent me pictures with what looks like Q-bond adhesive to me. Will this hold up? Is it still worth buying for 800$ CAD
?

Reason: Q-bond, not JB weld
I've seen FAR worse. Although, the broken-off torque arm mount bolt boss might cause problems.
At least it's the 2nd design.
$800 CA is, what, $600 or thereabouts, US? Probably not a bad price. Personally, I wouldn't buy it, but it's a reasonable price as far as that goes. Probably wouldn't be too hard or too $$$ to get another extension housing.
Does she have the console pieces that go with it? Both shifter boots, ****, etc.?
I just sent her a message asking for the boots and shifter, but since i can easily find those on the internet it isnt that big of a deal. But do you think the broken ear would hold? I'm guessing i shouldnt install this tranny on my firebird if it cant have a torque arm mounted on it
By second design do you mean it's a World Class?
It's just that V8 T5's are getting quite rare in my area. Whenever one is listed for sale it is sold in a matter of days.

Fine, however I think you're being a bit more optimistic than I would be. Plus of course if you can get them for free, that beats paying extra.

No, I do NOT. I think appropriating that TRENDY 80s BUZZWORD as a "product name" is the grossest, stupidest, most disgusting violation of consumer intelligence that has ever existed. It's about the same thing as naming a product "social media" or "Internet connected" would be today. The phrase belongs in the dustbin with aqua plastic dishes, harvest gold **** carpet, bobbysox, long sideburns, and so forth. I refuse to participate.
It's the 2nd design as far as I'm concerned.

It's pretty much the same everywhere, and won't ever get any better.

Perhaps this one's continued availability is whispering the answer you don't wanna hear?
I think it's mostly because it is quite far away from where most people live. If it had been for sale in Montreal then it would have been sold in a heartbeat, but this one is a north-bound 5 hour drive away from it
I wouldn't touch it. Glue holding mount ear on and broken off torque arm mount means someone absolutely abused it. No telling what else is wrong with it.
Your opportunity cost is (whatever you can buy it for) plus a G-Force case (yes, they make the GM pattern case. no, the Ford one isn't the only one, yes I know it's the only one listed for sale EVERYWHERE) plus the expense to reassemble into the new case. Plus whatever torque arm relocation you figure out. We're up to $1500 CAD ? if you do all the work.
The sand or media blasted case is like black spray paint on undercarriages. Meant to hide or fool. And that trans is still broken in ALL relevant structural castings. Is the case and front countershaft bearing leaking? You don't know. AND you don't even know whether the reverse idler gear is chewed like an old dog toy from people who don't know how to drive, or if any other gearing is good, bad, or ugly.
That trans. is what you put in a car to sell it when you're leaving town right after. If your goal is a core to build with a new case and you want a T5, go for it. As it stands, I consider it the 4 letter C word, where you negotiate price, gamble and hope there are enough good parts to build.
Is that a third gen transmission? The tail shaft on my '91 is a slip yoke, not a U-Joint.
I would suggest getting a very tired or internally beat unit and having it rebuilt by a Tremek dealer/rebuilder. Will probably cost you about the same.

+1...... Might be gettin' hard to find, but if your gonna' pay, buy one that doesn't have obvious physical damage to the case. You can expect that busted 'ear' to break off again and not having a 3rd mounting point for the Torque Arm clam-shell mount IS going to lead to problems. This is coming from a guy that will risk using questionable parts at times: that busted-up case just screams "STAY AWAY" to me.

Yes that's a third gen transmission, what your seeing is a slip yoke with it's U-joint and about 3" of a cut off driveshaft in place to keep the oil from leaking out....
And I hope like hell the OP passed on that, like many here have said it don't look like it had an easy life
