T10 question
Hey guys I am fooling around with a newly acquired t10 from a 63 vette. It has the cast iron body. I dont want any leaks once I install. The trans is very clean but has some light residual oil on the outside, it was sitting on my bench on its side for a good while, empty for the most part, some of the exterior bolts were snug but not cranked down solid.
I was told the front bearing retainer on this model t10 has no seal or gasket and oil will drain back into trans when running. (Later models have a gasket) I am wondering if I should hit the 4 bolts with a thread sealer and if so what type?
Lastly, are the tail shaft bolt holes blind or do they go thru into the case? Should I hit these with thread sealer as well?
